What is the Damage Role?
Damage Heroes Flank and Attack
Damage or DPS Heroes are mainly in charge providing the most damage to enemies, whether it's destorying shields or taking out the opposing heroes. Damage Heroes with high mobility like Tracer, are best used in flanks, while Damage Heroes with a high ammunition and fire rate like Bastion are best used at the front.
Damage Role Passive
In order to speed up the pace of matches and allow for easier flanking, Damage heroes have been given increased speed as part of their passive skill.

Damage Role Tips |

Learn Health Pack Locations Hit the Practice Range Play off Tanks and Healers Attack from Vantage Points Switch it Up on Respawn Choose Targets Wisely |
Learn Health Pack Locations
Learning health pack locations lets you plan flanking routes more effectively and eases the healer's burden of healing your Hero by a significant amount. It also acts as a back up plan when your dedicated healer is still respawning.
Hit the Practice Range
Not all Damage Heroes are cut from the same cloth. Some are better for close-range gueriila tactics, some shine in long-range sniper kills, and some like to take out multiple enemies at once with AoE abilities. Be sure to hit the Practice Range to get a feel of each DPS Hero and choose which one synergizes well with your gameplay.
Play off Tanks and Healers
A very underrated aspect of a good DPS is knowing how to play off tanks and healers — essentially peeling off them during fights, dives, and pickoffs. Having solid situational awareness allows you to push forward or approach from the flank to take out key targets, then scurry back to safety behind your tank and healer/s.
Attack from Vantage Points
Make it a point to find good vantage points where you can rain fire to your enemies. These could be high grounds, or behind shields put up by your Tanks, or even blind spots created by the map itself.
Switch it Up on Respawn
Always keep your enemies guessing. Staying as one DPS Hero can make it easier for the opposing team to learn how you play. Switch it up and be familiar with other Heroes when you can, use their differences to your advantage.
Choose Targets Wisely
Depending on the type of match you're in and the phase in the game you're on, you will have a different priority in which targets you need to take out first. If your team is being pushed to a choke point, you'll need to take out the Tank so you can push back and advance. If your team is doing the pushing, you'll want to give focus on taking out their Support so they can't heal their forces as you execute your attack.
