7zip is a file archiver that has a high compression ratio in 7z format with LZMA and LZMA2 compression, supports packing and unpacking XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP and WIM archives, and unpacking AR, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DMG, EXT, FAT, GPT, HFS, IHEX, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, QCOW2, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, UEFI, VDI, VHD, VHDX, VMDK, WIM, XAR and Z archives.
To install 7zip, paste this in macOS terminal after installing MacPorts
sudo port install 7zip
Instructions
- If not done already, install MacPorts.
- To install 7zip, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install 7zip
- To see what files were installed by 7zip, run:
port contents 7zip
- To later upgrade 7zip, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade 7zip
