Are you curious about some of the best Overwatch 2 DPS characters and heroes? Trying to find a hero that really fits your playstyle? Well, if you are coming in fresh to Overwatch 2 being free to play from other traditional shooters, then this role is where you want to be initially.
While the Tank and Support roles have more complexities to them damage heroes are almost all focused on well, dealing damage. As such this makes them some of the easiest heroes to learn. But, just because they are easy to learn doesn’t mean there are deeper parts to the characters.
That is why we are going to delve into some of them here. In fact, we have five recommendations below for the best Overwatch 2 DPS characters and heroes currently in the game.
best Overwatch 2 DPS characters and heroes?
The best Overwatch 2 DPS heroes are:
- Soldier: 76
- Genji
- Sojourn
- Reaper
- Bastion
Soldier: 76
With cutting-edge weaponry at his side, Soldier: 76 is the most traditional hero in Overwatch 2. Hispulse rifle is good at shooting in short bursts and sustained fire, while he can get around the map quickly thanks to a sprint toggle. His Helix Rockets act as an alternate fire for that weapon, dealing a chunk of damage with the projectile and having a small blast radius.
In addition, Soldier: 76 is one of the few non-support heroes that can heal, placing down a Biotic Field that heals himself and allies when standing in it. Finally, Soldier’s ultimate, Tactical Visor, will let his rifle auto-target enemies which makes him an extremely deadly cleanup character, that can finish off almost an entire team on low health with the ultimate.
Genji
Genji is our next top DPS Hero pick if you want something that is a little bit different to Soldier’s traditional playstyle. Genji’s high mobility, ability to double jump, scramble up walls, and dash around the map with Swift Strike constantly keep your enemies guessing. While his Shurikens Deflect ability allows you to shoot in a straight line or in a fan shape and deflect the enemy’s shots back at them, a combination of this and the movement abilities will mean you succeed as the hero.
Dragonblade is his Genji’s ultimate which is a powerful boosted Katana that can kill in just a few hits. While it only lasts for a few seconds it can completely change the flow of a match if you manage to activate it at the right time.
Sojourn
Sojourn may be Overwatch 2’s first new DPS character, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t one of the strongest. Equipped with her railgun, Sojourn has the ability to fire rapid-fire projectiles, similar to Widowmaker, while the alternate fire launches a charged-up beam that can deal high-impact shots, especially when targeted at weak points. To help her mobility as a damage hero, instead of a run like Soldier: 76, Sojourn can Power Slide, which has her dash forward either to escape an attack or get up close to an enemy.
Her throwable Disruptor Shot launches an energy projectile that snares enemies, pulling them in and damaging them in the process. And, to top it off Overclock really elevates Sojourn’s gameplay with auto-charging on her railgun and piercing shots when her railgun is charged.
Reaper
Reaper is a more situational character compared to the three before him in this list, but his power is unmatched up close. With shotguns as his side, invulnerability, teleporting, and more he is just a force to be reckoned with. And, if he is not dealt with can absolutely destroy a team.
As such, you should make the most of that strength by utilising his Shadow Step, Wraith Form, and Death Blossom abilities to absolutely cause havoc in close-quarters fights. You have to adapt to playing the game in a certain way but if you can adapt well, then you should be in for some high-kill games.
Bastion
Finally, on this list, we have Bastion who is a harder-to-master character in the damage category. While they are capable of dealing a lot of damage, especially when in the tank configuration, they don’t have a whole lot of extra firepower or abilities beyond being able to reconfigure between the tank mode, using an SMG, or the ultimate (which fires three artillery shells).
But, Bastion does have the added Tactical Grenade at his side which can bounce off of walls and explode, causing a bit of Area of effect damage to help him out in additional combat situations.
With one of these best Overwatch 2 DPS characters and heroes, you should be more than able to have some great games and really get a taste for some of Overwatch’s best moments where you clean up a team.
